ADHD Tips: Daily Rituals to Help You Remove Clutter and Decrease Stress

Clutter is the bane of our existence. When you have ADHD, clutter can seem overwhelming, causing stress and anxiety. No one loves housework (okay, some people are obsessed with tidiness), but there are ways to simplify it with daily rituals. Check out these ADHD tips to help you tame clutter.

  • Make your bed: it only takes a few minutes and will give your bedroom a less chaotic feel
  • Put dirty clothes in the hamper: clothes strewn all over your bedroom, bathroom, or closet pile up fast
  • Hang up your towels: putting things back where they go will give you a feeling of accomplishment
  • Shut drawers, cabinet doors, and closets: leaving them open can make you feel like you forgot to do something
  • Keep books where they belong: create shelves or other storage areas for these items
  • Sort your mail: decide what’s junk and recycle it then put important pieces where they need to go so you remember to pay your bills or respond to an inquiry
  • Keep dirty dishes out of the sink: a clean sink creates a harmonious kitchen so wash up the dishes as soon as you use them or put them in the dishwasher
  • Have a bag ready for things you’d like to donate: when you decide you no longer need something, get it out of your space
  • Hang up your coat and clothes: if something is to be worn again then put it back where it goes

With these ADHD tips, you can live a more clutter-free life, which can help when you need to focus and concentrate. For more tips like these, be sure to sign-up for our monthly newsletter!
