People with ADHD are not misfits.
Years of rapid-fire thoughts, blurting, forgetfulness, conflicts at work, and destructive relationships all suddenly make sense in the grand pattern of ADHD behavior. With your diagnosis, you are given a toolkit for fixing the problems in your life and a map towards a brighter future.
Any reader of my blog knows that every individual with ADHD has to discover for themselves the right balance of treatment from medication, exercise, healthy diet, sleep, meditation, and a strong support system.
Similarly, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to dealing with the trauma caused by the years of undiagnosed ADHD. There is a wide variety of options to help those with difficult experiences in their past find a way to come to terms with trauma, strengthen their coping mechanisms, and move forward. The first step for a treatment plan is to find a support system of professionals that make you feel comfortable and empowered, especially your doctor and therapist or psychologist. From that basis, you can explore many treatments to help you work through your issues.
In my series of blog posts this month, I highlighted five lesser-known treatments that yield exceptional results for ADHD patients struggling with trauma, depression, and stress management.
See what works for you and what you feel attracted to. All of these methods are ways to train the brain to promote a greater sense of peace, patience, strength, and self-confidence. As I said, each individual will experience different degrees of success.
