ADHD Treatment Secret Weapons, Part 5: The Power Breath

Breathing is our most basic wellness measurement tool.

Cue into it during a workout, and you know whether or not you’re exercising hard enough, or stop to analyze it mid-argument and you realize you’re puffing as you’ve just run up two flights of stairs. Practitioners of yoga and meditation know that exerting focus on breathing paces the body and allows the mind to achieve a state of clear, calm emptiness.

ADHD Treatment Secret Weapons: The Power BreathOne of my favorite authors has a special breathing tactic that can be a shortcut to emotional control in times of stress. In The 7 Lost Secrets of Ecstasy and Success: How to Awaken Your Hidden Power For Love and Riches, Kala H. Kos introduces the Power Breath. She says:

“To experience more of your innate power in each moment, it is also helpful to turn your attention to your body and your inner energy field. To do this, let me introduce you to a technique I call the Power Breath. It will charge you energetically and relax you into the present moment. Simply begin by noticing your breathing. Now, as you inhale, put your attention on the crown of your head, and as you exhale, put your attention on your navel. If you find it useful, place one hand at the top of your head and the other at your navel as you begin. Keep shifting the focus of your attention from crown to navel with each inhales and exhales. Since energy flows where attention goes, the mere focus of attention on these two areas will begin the flow of energy between them. Release your hands at any point you wish, and continue the Power Breath for at least 8 rounds. You can practice this technique anytime, anywhere, with your eyes open or closed.”

I use the Power Breath technique all the time. I have found it to be an effective and quick way to access my own truth, wisdom, and unique gifts!
